My laboratory is interested in fundamental mechanisms of cell death, and the roles of cell death in a variety of human diseases (heart disease, cancer, diabetes). Cell death is also critical to tissue homeostasis in healthy organisms. We are interested in the mechanisms that coordinate the birth of cells from their progenitors with their deaths. This is being studied in the fat compartment.
