My lab is interested in regulation of ES cell differentiation. The choice for embryonic stem (ES) cells to differentiate or maintain a stem cell phenotype is regulated by a complex array of extracellular signals, signalling pathways, transcriptional regulators and even miRNAs. Recently, we have shown that a novel pathway, orchestrated by copper transporter 1 (Ctr1), plays a crucial role in the induction of ES differentiation. This study is supported by funding by NYSTEM.
