Two NYSTEM-funded Scientists Elected as Fellows to AAAS

Two NYSTEM-funded scientists, Dr. Shahin Rafii, M.D., from Weill Cornell Medical College, and Dr. Ming-Ming Zhou, Ph.D, from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, were elected as Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).  AAAS Fellows are elected upon nomination by their peers.  Dr. Rafii is recognized for his work on vascular biology, stem cell homeostasis and preclinical models of organ regeneration.  He has received several NYSTEM awards including two Investigator Initiated Research Project awards, and an Institutional Training award.  Dr. Zhou uses structural and chemical biology to understand how proteins interact with DNA.  He has received an Investigator Initiated Research Project award.
